Welcome, this site is a community web site for kaitiaki mäori. It was set up under a Sustainable Management Fund grant to be operated by the kaitiaki community.

If you are involved in kaitiaki work, please join the community and create your personal page. The kaitiaki already on the site can then welcome you on by visiting your personal page and choosing the level of involvement they feel you have in kaitiaki work. The levels are:

• Kaititiro - an observer (or someone who has not yet joined)
• Te Hunga Manuhiri - visitors (those with minor involvement in kaitiaki work, or interested friends)
• Te Hunga Käinga - active kaitiaki
• Te Komiti Whakahaere - people recognised for their contribution and trusted with the role of supervising the information on the web site.

The membership levels are assigned automatically, based on the collective decision of the community. The system for deciding the criteria for assigning levels is called trust metrics .
