With the advent of the pending new legislation for the fore- shore and sea bed ...Te whanau o TeAotawarirangi from Tokomaru Bay presented their claim at the waitangi tribunal hearing in Wellington. Tino Pai

Then the whanau followed through by lodging a customary land claim in the Tairawhiti district land court. The hearing from collective whanau /hapu/Iwi/Trusts and tribal authorities was held at the Mangatu office in Gisborne
